As mentioned, in paragraph 3, by paying the membership fee, members can also benefit from the Holiday Resort, Karridene. Herewith a short description of this benefit:

4.1 Karridene Holiday Resort – Contact Hayden Thomas: 031 – 9167222 - Illovo

Karridene consists of a Hotel, Time-Share Units and a Caravan Park which belongs to the Facilities Fund of the Correctional Services. Karridene is situated at the South Coast of Kwazulu/Natal, next to Illovo Beach and is " 35 kilometres from Durban. All members can obtain/buy Time-Share at Karridene by means of interest-free loans provided by the Facilities Fund. The Time-Share Units consists of 18 two and 6 three bedroom flats with a view of the sea. RCI membership can also be obtained upon purchasing. Special accommodation packages at the Hotel and Caravan Park are also being offered to the General Club Members who pays the prescribed membership fee of R17.68 per month.

The beach is equipped with shark nets and is approximately 500 metres from the Hotel, Time-Share Units and Caravan Park. The Resort also has a kiosk, swimming pool, 2 squash courts, sauna, recreation centre and a putt-putt course. The Hotel consists of 81 rooms, a restaurant, ladies bar and conference facilities.

A distinction is made with regard to the purchasing prices of time-share at Karridene based on the different seasons / school holidays. The seasons as well as the prices for 2 & 3 bedroom flats per week are as follows :

In order for the members to obtain Time-Share, there is a special financing option for all members of the General Club. The financing entails an interest-free loan made available by the Facilities Fund to every new buyer, repayable over a period of 6 to 60 months.
